Nintendo add option to choose between two genders in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the entire community is up in arms about it.
Up until now Animal Crossing has never had an option to customise the player, you simply played the The Villager. But now you choose between two genders and people aren’t happy.
Animal Crossing World today confirmed that the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch game Animal Crossing: New Horizons has plenty of customisation options including race, hair, full face, and even face paint.
However, the Animal Crossing community seem to be very divided on these new features with many taking aim at the game’s gender option.
Gender in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch confirmed only two genders.
While most people think it is a pointless feature because they just want to play as the Villager (or player), who is now a fighter in the latest Smash Bros, others are emotionally distraught that there are only two genders to choose from.
It’s nice that gender can be changed mid-game but a lot of us non-binary and agender fans were hoping for a third gender option (they/them pronouns)— Tara H. (Rowdy Screening) (@thelfr) February 27, 2020
One person vented that the female gender optioned showed a ponytail.
Of course, the two genders, ponytail and no ponytail— Amberlea (@Amberlea_draws) February 27, 2020
Other people believe that, especially, in game like Animal Crossing: New Horizons that gender doesn’t matter and the character is not supposed to represent the player.
I feel the need to point out that the character you’re creating in Animal Crossing doesn’t represent you.— Brick (@NeuroBrick) February 28, 2020
Gender is, and will always be, a thing.
Gender neutral is not real. https://t.co/Ruk3OuiLCz
