Although debatable, the general consensus is that the MCU is getting worse. Is Black Widow the last MCU movie worth seeing? Warning, this article contains Avengers: Endgame spoilers.

Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ended with whimper, not a bang. A lot of our favourite superheroes said their goodbyes and took their final bows before the curtains closed in Avengers: Endgame. Actors that won’t be returning to the MCU are: Robert Downie Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner. And, through inaction, Disney/Marvel have lost the rights to Spider-Man which means Tom Holland, although keeping his role as Spider-Man, will not be a part of the MCU anymore either.

It is also rumoured that Chrim Hemsworth is ready to put down Mjolnir for good as Thor: Love and Thunder may very well be his last appearance as the Norse God. Natalie Portman will be playing The Mighty Thor as Jane Foster who’s now worthy of the title and the hammer. Reportedly, Portman will continue on as Thor for the foreseeable future as Hemsworth bows out of the cinematic universe.

Thor director, Taika Watiti, revealed that Portman would only return to the MCU if she got equal pay to the MCU’s leading actors; so, she got a role as a leading actress. “I just said to her ‘Are you interested in coming back to this thing, but doing something really different?’ No one wants to keep repeating themselves, and no one wants to play the same characters all the time. And I think for her, just coming back, reprising that character in a whole fresh new way was really what would interest anyone. Especially in most of these films, if you’re not a superhero… do you really wanna keep doing that? I mean, I wouldn’t. I’d want to come back and change things up.” He told Variety.

Black Widow will be one of the last MCU films starring one of the original heroes. It’s a prequel and we’ll see the International spy and assassin, Natasha Romanoff, become the superhero we now know and love today, Black Widow. Fans fear that this film will be official be the MCU’s swan song. Is it the last Marvel movie worth seeing?

The MCU is getting worse

Fans believe that the MCU is getting worse, not only because of the departure of some of their favourite heroes, but also because the way Disney have been handling some of the source material. Instead of just aiming to deliver exciting actions movies, Kevin Feige has turned the MCU into a tool for his own political activism.

Many thousand fans of the original comic books also feel snubbed by Disney/Marvel because they feel their concerns for the cinematic universe are being ignored. Instead, it seems, Disney executives are more keen on pandering to small political groups who really have no interest in superheroes or comic book films.

Is Black Widow the last Marvel movie worth seeing?

The Scandinavian/American actress absolutely killed it as the infamous assassin turned superhero. Scarlet Johansson was first introduced to us in Iron Man 2 along side Robert Downie Jr. We’ve only been teased with flashbacks of her origins, and ever since fans have been screaming for standalone movie.

Additionally, Natasha Romanov has had one of, if not, the best character developments in the entire MCU. We’ve seen her as a cold and calculated trained killer into a loving and caring woman who is willing to give her own life to save the people she loves and cares about. Black Widow is a real superhero.

Black Widow wasn’t forced into the universe, she wasn’t given infinite power, and we weren’t told that she is the definitive female superhero, a role model for all young girls, and that we need to love… or else. We fell in love with her because we got to see the incredible journey she had to embark on to become, what I consider, the best female superhero.
