Looks like Aussie’s may be able to catch the Snyder cut of Justice League on HBO Max later this year, but what does that mean for the Stan streaming service?
According to The Verge HBO Max are planning to launch their service all around the world starting June, 2021. So, when can Australian’s expect the popular streaming service to launch down under.
Small-Screen UK reports that HBO Max will first be rolled out to Latin America in the first phase phase of International Launch. Although there has been no confirmation on whether an Australian launch will occur, HBO has promised that it will also be available in Europe and the Nordic region later this year.
The WarnerMedia owned video-on-demand streaming service will launch 39 countries and territories across Latin America and the Caribbean from June, 2021. Some of the countries include: Anguilla, Antigua, Argentina, Aruba, B.V.I., Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks and Caicos, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Will HBO Max be available in Australia?
Sadly there is no word on whether they have any plans on launching in Australia. HBO Max original movies and television series are usually split between Netflix, Foxtel and Australia’s number one streaming service, Stan.
Stan members can currently catch the hit romantic comedy series, Love Life, starring Anna Kendrick and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion are exclusively on Stan. Meanwhile JBO Max’s JG Quintel’s adult animation Close Enough is available as a Netflix Original Series here in Australia.
HBO Max’s Doom Patrol and The Watchmen is only available via Australia’s pay-per-view cable service Foxtel.
It is possible that HBO Max may partner with Stan Australia later this year as they already host a lot of their content, but it is unlikely that we will see a launch as a standalone service
Aussies, even though the streaming service is geo-locked, can still watch HBO Max. All they need is to sign up for a Virtual Private Network like NordVPN. They are extremely secure and their app are extremely easy to use. You can sign up for an account with for less than $4.00 a month.
