Marvel are getting the ball rolling on the highly anticipated Captain Marvel 2 movie and are sending a strong message by only hiring women.
Despite people of colour petitioning to have Brie Larson replaced as Captain Marvel, the actress will return in the highly anticipated sequel.

One interesting piece of information that has come to light on the Captain Marvel sequel is the studios emphasis on how movie will be will take in a ‘modern day setting’.
This, however, does not mean what most people think it does.
Captain Marvel appeared in Avengers: Endgame which took place in modern times, so it would only seem logical for the new Captain Marvel movie to continue the story… so why make a point on mentioning a modern setting?
Modern day setting means modern politics
The latest screenplay is now reportedly being written by Megan McDonnel and adapted from a story by Kelly Sue Deconnick; Captain Marvel and the Carrol Cops.

The Carol Corps is a female only group lead by Carol Danvers. They work on their own accord and do not take orders from the Avenger Initiative or any other patriarchal group.
- FUN FACT: Carol Corps is also the official name for the fan group.
“These ladies are the best of the best and will take you down if you threaten their Captain,” the synopsis reads on Google Books.
Marvel going all in with feminist movement
Not only is the film going to send a strong feminist message, Disney/Marvel are allegedly only hiring women for the crew and production unit.
Gamespot writes, “THR also claims that Marvel is looking to hire a woman to direct Captain Marvel 2, which could hit theatres in the 2022. The report also claims the movie will be set in the present day, which is decades later than the first movie, which took place in the ’90s.”
