Could Brie Larson be replaced? Although fans’ opinions were divided when it came to Brie Larson’s performance as Carol Danvers, it is undeniable that her film was a box office smash hit as it brought in $1b during its cinema run.

Some fans thought Larson was just too boring and monotone as Captain Marvel while others absolutely loved her. However, her role has never come under fire until people of colour were outraged that the role was played by a ‘straight white female’ and petition to have her replaced by a gay person of colour.

Brie Larson "too white" to play Captain Marvel, petition claims

Are Marvel replacing Brie Larson? She might be recast as woman of colour.

Warner Bros/DC are having similar problems with Amber Heard as a petition to remove her from Aquaman 2 reaches 320k signatures. The petition started after Johnny Depp released audio tapes of Amber Heard admitting to assaulting and mentally abusing him. However, despite the overwhelming growth of the petition, Warner Bros/DC have failed to comment.

Who will replace Larson?

Disney will most likely do the same thing they did to Black Panther; they won’t recast but rather phase out the character for another, like they did with Shuri.

It is rumoured that Captain Marvel 2 will be the end of Carol Danver’s story line and she will make way for Ms. Marvel who will be played by a woman of colour.

What are your thoughts on this? Should Captain Marvel be recast? Should Brie Larson be replaced? Should Carol Danvers make way for Ms. Marvel? Let us know in the comments below.
