Wonder Woman 1984 reportedly takes shots at Trump and capitalism

The highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman movie has a “Trumpian” villain and takes shots at capitalism.

Den of Geeks visited the set to Wonder Woman 1984 were surprised to learn “how well antagonist Maxwell Lord reflects real world villains.” Who exactly was the real world villain they were talking about? The current U.S. president Donald J. Trump.

NEWS: Russell Crowe sends out terrifying tweet.

Kayti Burt, author at Den of Geeks, describes Maxwell Lord, the villain in Wonder Woman 1984 (stylised WW84), to be the most terrifying villain ever because of his real world resemblance to Trump. And the connection isn’t accidental.

According to producer Anna Obropta, Maxwell Lord is a “desperate, self-obsessed, fraudulent entrepreneur who runs a business selling the American dream.”

Maxwell Lord is Trump in WW84

Pedro Pascal is supposed to play a fearless businessman but is instead a Trump impersonator in Wonder Woman 1984.

Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) was not only styled-up to look almost exactly like an 80s era Trump, but according to our sources he was told to copy his body language, facial expressions, and mannerisms. That’s probably why he looks like a cheap Trump impersonator in the poster.

When Burt visited the boardroom he saw images of 80s era Trump plastered all over the storyboard for inspiration.

The only similarities between Donald Trump and Maxwell is that they both had wealthy fathers and later turned out to be successful businessman themselves. However, they still decided to basically turn the original DC villain into a cheap comical and villainous version of Trump.

Wonder Woman 1984 costume designer Lindy Hemming had no reservations admitting that she viewed Trump as the ultimate villain when she described him as sleazy fake businessman who’s all talk, no style.

Trump pointing

Maxwell Lord is not only supposed to represent Trump but all of “evil” capitalism, too.

“Through a certain lens, it’s a capitalist thought experiment wrapped up in a superhero movie,” Burt writes.

Wonder Woman 1984 allegedly sets it’s sights on corruption and greed which the producers believe is a byproduct of capitalism.

WW84 was originally supposed to premiere worldwide last week but it has been postponed until the October 1st, 2020.
