Are you already an Xbox Live Gold and/or Xbox Game Pass member and you’re not sure whether or not you should upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate? Well, you definitely should. Here is why.
Microsoft revealed that they are bundling up Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass together and are selling it as one premium service called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Not only does Xbox Game Pass Ultimate give you access to online multiplayer and the expansive library of video-games, but it also gives you access to all future Microsoft games, like Gears 5, the day they release. With Ultimate, you will also be able to play most of these video games on your Windows 10 PC.
If you have no interest in getting access to the 100+ Xbox games, both new and old, and you pay monthly for your Xbox Live Gold membership then you can overlook Ultimate. However – if you currently have either an active Xbox Live Gold or a Xbox Game Pass membership, or even both, you should definitely upgrade.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate only costs $1.00 to upgrade
“Note: Purchase of the Ultimate plan automatically upgrades your existing Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass membership(s) to Ultimate at a conversion ratio each based on days remaining. Learn how this works at www.xbox.com/gamepass. Future code redemptions are also subject to a conversion ratio. Conversion ratio subject to change. All conversions to Ultimate are final: Once converted, you cannot re-convert your Ultimate membership back to a previous membership. Maximum 36 months of redeemed Ultimate per account at a time, including any converted time from Xbox Live Gold and/or Xbox Game Pass (for PC or console).”
We know Microsoft’s fine print seems a little confusing, and maybe it is deliberately so because they know this current deal is a steal. If you have an active Xbox Live Gold membership then for just $1.00 your account will be upgraded to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for the remainder of your subscription.
If you have an active Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass membership the remainder of those memberships will stack and you will get access Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for that time. This means you just pay $1.00 and then nothing until your current active membership expires. And the maximum stackable amount is 36 months (3 years).
In a nutshell, if there is 6 months remaining on your Xbox Live Gold membership and 6 months remaining on your Xbox Game Pass membership, that $1.00 will give you 12 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. After those 12 months you will then have to pay $15.95 per month.
So, yes! It is definitely worth upgrading if you already have an active subscription to either service or you just want access to over 100 games for an additional $5.00 a month.
