Ruby Rose is bowing out and quitting her ‘childhood dream’ role leaving the future of CW’s Batwoman television series in doubt.

Ruby Rose has officially announced that she will not be returning as Kate Kane in season 2 of the CW’s Batwoman superhero television series.

NEWS: The new Batman will be softer and less masculine.

The 34-year-old Melbournian actress has hung up her cape for the last time as she quits CW’s Batwoman.

Ruby Rose — who has starred in Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black, John Wick Chapter 2, and Pitch Perfect 3 — once described the of Batwoman as being a fulfilment of her childhood dream says she has no interest as returning as the character for season 2.

The future of CW’s Batwoman is now in doubt as the studio is scrambling to find a LBGTQ actor who is fit for the role.

Rube Rose spoke to the US media stating that she had “made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman.”

Aussie star Ruby Rose, 34, quits CW’s Batwoman amid low ratings and bad reviews.

“This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show,” Ruby Rose said in her statement.

She continued: “I’m beyond appreciative to [the show’s producers] for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created.”

Rose was cast for part of Kate Kane because of her ties to the LGBTQ community, something CW claim to be a significant moment in television history. Producers at CW said they wanted the part to go to an actor who was a member of the LGBTQI community, and Ruby Rose was the perfect choice.

Aussie star Ruby Rose, pictured with Keanu Reeves (John Wick: Chapter 2), quits CW’s Batwoman and will not return for season 2 as Kate Kane.

Warner Bros Television and Berlanti Productions responded to Rose’s statement by thanking her for her contributions to the success of their first season and wished her all the best.

Ruby Rose reportedly walked away from the role at the advice of her agent.

Before CW’s Batwoman Rose was on her way to the A-list especially after having starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the critically acclaimed action movie John Wick Chapter 2. Sadly, CW’s Batwoman did not match the actress’s energy and it had abysmal ratings and bad reviews.

The Guardian published a review saying that the felt low budget with its sets and lighting and was, over all, ‘heroically bad’.

With the surrounding negative press and the low ratings the most logical and sound decision Rose could make was to distance herself from the franchise.

The studio has released statement saying the the Batwoman series would take a “new direction” after Rose’s departure and that she would be replaced with “a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community in the coming months.”

Who do you think is the perfect replacement for Ruby Rose as Kate Kane in the CW’s Batwoman series? Let us know in the comments below.
