Activision/Blizzard have allegedly struck a deal with Netflix for a Diablo and Overwatch animated series, said to be very anime inspired.

Overwatch fans can consider themselves very lucky as it seems like, at this point, it is pretty much guaranteed that there is an animated series on its way to Netflix. The animated series will dive deeper into the Overwatch universe and give fans a good taste of the lore.

Additionally, Netflix have reportedly picked up a series for Diablo which is said to be much like Netflix’s Castlevania animated series.

The news first appeared on Activision Blizzard Studio’s Co-President’s LinkedIn profile, Nick van Dyk, but he has since made his profile private.

Nick van Dyk is Co-President of Activision Blizzard Studios, which creates television, film and short-form content based on Activision Blizzard’s library of iconic and globally-recognized intellectual properties, including Call of Duty, Candy Crush, Overwatch, World of Warcraft and hundreds more.

According to Nick van Dyke’s profile, an full anime-style Diablo series is already in pre-production at Netflix.

Is there an Overwatch anime heading to Netflix?

His profile also mentions that Blizzard has “developed and sold” an Overwatch animated series which is rumoured to release closer to the Overwatch 2 launch date. No info has been revealed on the style of the animation, so it’s hard to say whether it will be like an Overwatch anime, but it is fair to assume it may be 3D like the cut-scenes seen in the game.

Since this information was accidentally leaked from Nick van Dyk’s profile there has been officially announcement of the two animated series just yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar we will hear something soon.
