Ricky Gervais roasts Ryan Reynolds for “racist” wedding apology

Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds felt the need to apologise for hosting his 2012 wedding at a former slave plantation. Ricky Gervais fired back on Twitter.

Ryan Reynolds has never been called a racist, and that’s because he isn’t. He and his wife, Blake Lively, are among some of the warmer personalities in Hollywood. There’s never any controversy around them… until now.

Radical activists tried to smear the 43-year-old Disney star by saying that he chose a former slave plantation to celebrate his marriage to Blake Lively.

Demands were made that Reynolds apologise for, what the activists called, his racist actions. Although the outrage seemed absurd to the average fan, they were shocked to see Ryan Reynolds take a knee to the angry mob and make a formal apology for his wedding.

In 2012 Reynolds and Lively tied the knot at Boone Hall in South Carolina. Boone Hall Plantation is one of America’s oldest working plantations, continually growing crops for over 320 years.

Beloved celebrity couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively forced to apologise for “racist” 2021 wedding.

It is a popular location for weddings because of the large open spaces and beautiful vistas. Thousands of people get married there every year. However, being as old as it is, the plantation has a shady past because it used to house slaves about 200 years ago.

An angry Twitter mob are now looking for anything to have wealthy celebrities bend their knees and grovel at their feet, and, for Ryan Reynolds, the 2012 wedding was the dirt they needed.

Ryan Reynolds caved to the mob and offered a formal apology saying “it was a giant f***ing mistake.”

British comedian Ricky Gervais roasts Ryan Reynolds for wedding apology.

“It’s something we’ll always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for,” he said. “It’s impossible to reconcile. What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy. Years ago we got married again at home—but shame works in weird ways. A giant f***ing mistake like that can either cause you to shut down or it can reframe things and move you into action. It doesn’t mean you won’t fuck up again. But repatterning and challenging lifelong social conditioning is a job that doesn’t end.”

Ricky Gervais obviously thought the bigger mistake was apologising to the mob.

He retweeted an article published by The Wire and wrote, “I hate themed weddings too.”

The tweet seemingly implies that his apology is completely stupid unless he specifically chose that location for its troubled past.

Others saw the idiocy of the outrage, and the apology alike. Erik Russel shared his hilarious views on the matter:

“I hereby apologise for the giant mistake of living on planet earth— a place where unbelievable injustice has taken place. I will be leaving for the cold void of space where, due to a lack of female astronauts, I will still not be free of guilt.”

It’s been almost two hundred years since slavery was abolished in the USA, and although Boone Hall does have a dark past when it comes to slavery, the people who run it now had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Boone Hall has continued to create jobs for people of all colours and creed. They are currently the only source of livelihood for 50 people. And during large events like the Reynolds and Lively wedding, more workers are hired.

Boone Hall really is the perfect spot for a magical wedding with its lushes fields of crops, wide open spaces, and a rustic mansion with a beautiful view of the surrounding lake. It’s no shock that they chose that place to get married… because, if you saw it, you just might too.
