Brie Larson rumoured to play Samus in Metroid and Peach in Mario movie

Larson has a good relationship with Nintendo of America and has personally asked to be cast as Princess Peach and Samus in two upcoming movies.

Brie Larson has some solid connections with high-ups at Nintendo of America and she’s using her connections to secure herself roles in their upcoming film adaptations for Metroid and Super Mario Bros,.

NEWS: Jackass 4 starring original cast confirmed for 2021.

Nintendo are interested in turning some of their games into movies, especially after seeing the box office success of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie starring Jim Carrey and James Marsden. Brie Larson has displayed interest in two upcoming roles, and according to our sources, she just might have dibs.

Brie Larson has been a spokesperson for Nintendo of America ever since she expressed interest in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. She claims she is a gamer and uses her YouTube channel to promote the Nintendo Switch when she can.

After chatter of an upcoming Super Mario Bros. film adaptation, our sources told us that the 30-year-old Captain Marvel actress was quick to show interest in playing Princess Peach.

Another game that Nintendo is reportedly interesting in turning into a movie is the 1986 classic space platformer Metroid. The main character in Metroid is Samus Arun, an intergalactic bounty hunter.

Samus is also one of the most beloved female protagonist in the world of videogames, making her the perfect mascot for the series of Nintendo movies we will inevitably see.

“I would love that so much,” Larson said in regards to playing Samus Arun. “So, I was Samus for Halloween two years ago… It was literally a $20 costume I bought off of Amazon, it was like nothing. I was so excited about it, and so I posted a picture of it on Instagram of me and the costume and it turned into this thing of people being like ‘woah!’ She was always my character that I played in Super Smash Bros. and I just loved her. So that whole thing started and I’ve definitely not put a squash to that story and I definitely want to make that movie, I definitely want to participate in that. So, Nintendo, once again, I would love to do it!”

Although there is a lot of talk about an upcoming Super Mario Bros. and Metroid movie, Nintendo of America have not yet confirmed the rumours.

The community is split on whether Brie Larson is right for the part of Samus Arun, or even Princess Peach. Larson is a talented actress who has a wealth of experience, but her performance as Carol Danvers in Marvel’s Captain Marvel left a bad taste in the mouth of many. Many blame the uninspired performance on the poorly written script.

Thomas Wells published a piece on Medium explaining the five fundamental reasons “why Captain Marvel sucked.” He wrote, “The problem is that despite all of her unlikable qualities, she is always written as if she is in the right. So there’s a total disconnect between how I feel about the character and how Marvel and the writers seem to want me to feel. It doesn’t seem to matter who is writing her, either. It’s like she has a protected status at Marvel, where we’re not allowed to tell her she is wrong.”

Although there are no new updates on these movies, Paramount Pictures have confirmed that Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will be out in theatres April 8th, 2022.
